PALMERA
MOTOR COURT
Palmera’s branding, by Studio West of Death, unites Route 66 nostalgia,
oil tower grit, and the palm tree’s promise of escape.
Palmera Motor Court is a visionary revitalization project along Tulsa’s iconic stretch of Route 66, led by Sharp Development with brand identity artfully crafted by A. Nigh Herndon of Studio West of Death. This boutique motor lodge merges mid-century Americana with a distinctly Southwestern soul, creating a modern-day oasis for travelers and locals alike.
The visual branding of Palmera captures the spirit of the open road and the story of Oklahoma’s industrious past. The logo—striking in its simplicity—symbolizes the triad of identity: the classic pulse of Route 66, the skeletal silhouettes of oil towers that once dotted the plains, and the palm tree, a beacon of rest and refuge for weary travelers. It’s a poetic mark—a compass rose pointing toward renewal.
The City of Tulsa awarded Sharp Development as the winner of the Route 66 revitalization RFP. Construction on Palmera Motor Court is set to begin in late 2025.
